Avec cet album, PARADISE LOST semble enfin décidé à laisser tomber son côté DEPECHE MODE pour revenir à sa meilleure période, celle de Draconian Time ! Mais attention, loin d'eux l'idée même de réutiliser une recette qui a déjà fait ses preuves. Les guitares reprennent le pouvoir, mais les arrangements Electro restent bien présents et c'est plutôt bien vu, tant les deux aspects s'accordent parfaitement.
Pas moins de 14 morceaux pour nous plonger dans leur univers : le groupe nous gâte. Les trois premiers morceaux sont sans aucun doute les meilleurs de l'album. Les riffs sont puissants, la voix maîtrisée, la batterie en place et surtout très "propre". Que dire de cette voix féminine qui vient épauler Nick Holmes sur "Erased" ou de l'intro techno de "Two Words" ?
Côté musique nous noterons aussi la reprise qui vient clôturer le cd : "Small Town Boy" de Jimmy Sommerville. Choix assez étrange de prime abord, mais tout à fait plaisant à l'écoute.
Comme si cela ne suffisait pas, les chanceux qui auront acheté la perle dès sa sortie, auront eut droit à un superbe digipack avec un livret somptueux, le tout pour un prix des plus abordables. On aurait pu croire que la TVA était enfin descendue à 5,50 % sur les cd !
Voilà donc PARADISE LOST revenu dans le droit chemin, espérons qu'il y restera le plus longtemps possible. A qui le tour, METALLICA peut être ? Croisons les doigts !!
