Groupe désormais bien connu, REQUIEM vient de sortir son dernier album Premier Killing League au sein de l’écurie Massacre Records. Après un Government Denies Knowledge plutôt bien accueilli, qu’en est-il de cette galette ?
REQUIEM propose un Death ravageur, ultra efficace. A priori rien de neuf dans la composition, mais après une écoute plus poussée on perçoit les nombreux breaks et mesures asymétriques qui passent tous seuls, comme papa dans maman. Contrairement à certains qui font plus de la masturbation de manche, là seule une oreille attentive pourra déceler ces petites trouvailles rythmique. Entre la brutalité d’un SUFFOCATION et la lourdeur d’un MORBID ANGEL (pour ne citer que quelques références à peine connues), REQUIEM posséde en plus ce petit côté moderne dans les rythmiques qui rend leurs riffs encore plus agressifs. Hooo attention, c’est pas du Death Core non plus, tout est subtilement incorporé pour notre plus grand plaisir. De plus, l’alternance entre un chant Death et un chant plus typé Black rajoute encore à la richesse des morceaux.
Et que dire du son ? Parfait, tout simplement : puissant, propre mais pas stérile, une bonne basse claquante, une batterie qui envoie… bref, j’ai du mal à trouver un quelconque reproche à cet album. Bon pour chipoter, on pourrait dire que les helvétes ne révolutionnent pas le genre, mais pourquoi gâcher notre plaisir à l’écoute de ce Premier Killing League ? Hein ? Pourquoi ?
