LAZY (FRA) - Rock Against Rock (2006)

Pour son premier album LAZY nous offre une bonne synthèse de différents courants du Metal de ces dernières années. Sans avoir peur de remonter quelques années en arrière, le groupe emprunte beaucoup au Punk Rock duquel il tire ce côté revendicatif hargneux. On trouve aussi des touches de Hard Rock, de Rock, de Hardcore, de Stoner, bref un bel horizon musical qui va de HANOI ROCKS à PANTERA en passant par GLUECIFER ! Le tout est remis au goût du jour afin de sonner résolument moderne. Ce résultat plutôt hybride est donc assez difficile à définir. Il constitue un univers propre au groupe qui bénéficie là d’un fort potentiel pour le live. Car chaque titre est nerveux, incisif, corrosif à souhait. Ajoutons que le groupe a enregistré dans des conditions de prises directes ce qui renforce ce côté brut et cru.
Le piège classique consistant à livrer un album trop bigarré à force de multiplier les influences a été soigneusement évité car le groupe a su donner une identité à chaque morceau ce qui renforce la cohésion de l’ensemble en dépit d’une étonnante variété.
Les morceaux sont généralement brefs mais LAZY est également à l’aise lorsqu’il frôle les 6 minutes avec “Quite Another Story” qui termine cet excellent premier LP.
