Premier album des cinq teutons d’Equilibrium après une démo remarquée, Turis Fratyr est un recueil de dix titres de Black folklorique furieusement épiques et mélodiques, inspirés de vieilles légendes germaniques et notamment de mythologie scandinave. Rien de bien original, serait-on tenté de dire, toujours est-il que sans révolutionner un genre où nombre de combos ont déjà fait leurs preuves, Equilibrium parvient à s’y tailler une place à grand renfort de riffs speedés, de blast-beats, de chant criard dans la langue de Goethe et surtout de mélodies entraînantes et accrocheuses. Morceaux épiques hauts en couleurs, tels que « Widars Hallen » et ses chœurs féminins ; titres accrocheurs et festifs, à l’image de l’imparable « Met », se succèdent et s’écoutent avec un réel plaisir, d’autant plus qu’ils sont servis par une production très satisfaisante. L’ensemble est particulièrement bien orchestré et suffisamment varié pour ne pas lasser, bien que l’intérêt de l’auditeur ait tendance à se dissiper en fin d’album.
Difficile sinon de ne pas succomber à l’entrain et aux mélodies irrésistibles de cet opus sur lequel tout amateur de Black folklorique en quête de nouvelles découvertes se doit de jeter une oreille avertie.
