Il est déjà 19h et l'heure de poser son cul devant "Money Drop". La présentatrice, Laurence Boccolini, grande fan de Heavy Metal devant l'éternel (véridique), a laissé deux sujets au choix à Thomas et Michel, un couple de candidats gays : "Helloween" ou "élections européennes". Thomas et Michel, croyant s'engager sur une question portant sur la grande fête de la citrouille, choisissent donc ... "Helloween". Et là, la question tombe...
Le super-groupe UNISONIC est-il en réalité :
Réponse 1 : "Un prétexte inavoué pour remonter le HELLOWEEN de la grande époque sans Michael Weikath ?"
Réponse 2 : "L'occasion pour Michael Kiske de se remettre au Heavy Metal alors qu'il avait juré qu'on ne l'y reprendrait plus ?"
Réponse 3 : "Une tentative désespérée de Kai Hansen de se sortir de la routine d'un GAMMA RAY qui se mort la queue ?"
Réponse 4 : "Un groupe de Rock formé par un hérisson bleu hyperactif ?"
Face à la complexité de cette question inattendue, nos deux tourteaux sèchent ... "Ouh là là, hou là là, hou là là, eeeeuh, Laurence, est-ce qu'on peut faire appel à un ami ?". Laurence reste cinglante : "Non mais on n'est pas chez Foucaud, ici, vous êtes le maillon faible, au revoir !". Thomas et Michel perdent donc 75 000 Euros !!!
Bon, sans rire, maintenant. Les bonnes réponses sont les 1, 2 et 3. Et surtout la 1, d'ailleurs. Depuis le temps que Kiske et Hansen essayent de se rabibocher, ils avaient déjà conclu l'affaire en 2012 avec Unisonic, album mi-figue mi-raisin. En attendant la sortie du nouvel opus prévu pour le 1er Août 2014 (il s'intitulera Light Of Dawn), voilà de quoi patienter avec le EP For The Kingdom. Au programme : deux titres inédits (dont "For The Kingdom" qui figurera sur l'album à venir), et quatre morceaux enregistrés en public.
Tout naturellement, le titre d'ouverture "For The Kingdom" sonne comme l'héritage évident des Keeper Of The Seven Keys, mené tambour battant, sublimé sur ce refrain porté par un Michael Kiske au top. L'autre rareté de ce EP se nomme "You Come Undone" et donne dans le Heavy un poil plus Rock'n'Roll, avec en bonus un duel tonitruant de soli entre le père Hansen et son comparse suisse Mandy Meyer (qui officie habituellement dans KROKUS). En deux chansons, UNISONIC justifie pleinement son autocréation. Au moins c'était une bonne idée et ça redonne l'inspiration à Monsieur Hansen.
Quant à la partie "live", on retiendra deux choses. La première, c'est que les petits veinards qui ont assisté à ça ont pu voir sur scène un quintet professionnel jusqu'au bout, qui assure sévère et qui se permet d'arriver sur les planches sur l'air de la "Chevauchée des Walkyries" de Wagner... Tout le monde ne peut pas se vanter d'avoir été au concert du Best Of de HELLOWEEN / PINK CREAM 69 / KROKUS / PLACE VENDOME en termes de line-up : ce sont quand même Kosta Zafiriou (batterie) et Dennis Ward (basse) qui complètent cette formation de rêve.
La deuxième chose à retenir de ces quatre extraits en public, c'est qu'effectivement, UNISONIC alterne le bon voire excellent ("Never Too Late" et ses airs de "Time To Break Free", le fédérateur "Star Rider" qui témoigne du savoir-faire de Hansen et Ward), et le carrément moins bon (le titre éponyme ne ressemble pas à grand-chose mais on avait déjà eu l'occasion de le remarquer sur l'album original). Et "Souls Alive" passe inaperçu derrière "Star Rider".
D'où la pression qui repose sur les épaules de ses géniteurs : UNISONIC ne peut pas se permettre d'être moyen. On attend donc beaucoup du nouvel opus de ce groupe d'élite au répertoire toujours enjoué.
