Ils ont un nom : X-VISION. Ils ont une arme : le Metal. Ils ont un Dieu : le riff qui déchire.
On pourrait s’arrêter là et laisser la musique faire le reste. Seulement, il faut bien présenter un peu le nouvel album de X-VISION, parce qu’il en vaut plus que la peine. C’est un pur moment de jouissance profonde dans les limbes de leur Metal sans concessions. Et ils affirment fièrement que le Metal français, loin d’être mort comme certains se plaisent à le dire, a encore de beaux jours devant lui. X-VISION n’est pas le seul groupe à défendre cette idée, mais ils sont aussi capables de rivaliser avec les concurrents outre-Atlantique sans rougir d’aucune manière.
X-VISION a une recette pour ces morceaux. Des riffs puissants, pas forcément techniquement complexes, mais avec des arrangements, des petites touches, qui font la différence là où ils auraient pu se contenter d’aligner un riff simple dans sa nature la plus dénudée. Les guitares se complètent à merveille, sachant quand il faut être en accord parfait et quand il faut se décaler pour donner le ton juste. La batterie est chirurgicale, même si elle officie dans un style qui pourrait se rapprocher plus de la boucherie. Pourtant, il n’en est rien. Elle martèle précisément, usant avec justesse d’une double grosse caisse percutante et survitaminée ou d’un blast beat pas si primaire qu’il peut le paraître.
Et tout ça nous amène à des morceaux qui nous prennent et nous enfoncent la tête dans un monde sombre, violent, lugubre. On commence par un « Paper Plane » qui annonce la couleur et on termine sur un « Theatre Of Appearances » qui résume le tout. Et puis, on passe par le diptyque « The Sky Never Lies » et « The Sky Was True » qui forme un tout exceptionnel, riche, enivrant et excitant. Un vrai moment de bonheur et de richesse.
Attention, So Close, So Far est en bonne place pour être l’un des meilleurs albums de ce début d’année. Il ne faut surtout pas passer à côté.
