Side project monté par des membres de groupes grecs de renommée internationale tels que Rotting Christ et Necromantia, c’est avec leur quatrième album en plus de dix ans d’existence que Thou Art Lord revient sur le devant de la scène satanique avec ce « Orgia Daemonicum » qui, annonce direct le ton et l’ambiance proposés au travers de ces dix titres.
On sent tout d’abord que les deux leaders de cette tribu maléfique et infamante ont voulu rendre un hommage appuyé aux formations phares de Thrash Death des années 80 comme Possessed, Sodom ou Bathory. Une influence qui se fait notamment sentir au niveau du son de guitares, qui se veut volontairement passéiste, cru et âpre, excepté sur le dernier morceau, une cover du classique Death Metal « Power From Hell » de Onslaught, bien plus gras et nerveux que les titres précédents. Retour quinze ans en arrière oblige, les lignes de basse se veulent très discrètes donc pas très audibles, en dépit d’une production correcte.
Ainsi, les compositions ne manquent pas de relief et la qualité d’interprétation est remarquable, normal, eu égard à l’expérience de ces vieux briscards. Tout y est cliché, forcément, avec des passages de voix démoniaques ou bien des parties vocales incantatoires. Quant aux titres des morceaux, eux, ils ne font pas dans l’implicite, jugez plutôt : « Possessed/The Legion », « He, The Great Worm », « Orgia Daemonicum », « Satanic Aphorisms », etc…
L’ensemble est bien agréable et c’est ce qui nous importe. Le duo composé de Sakis à la guitare et de The Magus à la basse délivre une copie honnête avec leur style rétro qui n’est pas pour nous déplaire.
Au final, un album à conseiller à tous les nostalgiques de la fin des eighties et autres adorateurs de la Bête ! Satan rules !
