Je me demandais y’a pas longtemps comment s’appelait ce musicien de Heavy-Metal aux cheveux frisés, bassiste, qui aime porter des maillots de foot sur scène ? Ah mais si, en plus, c’est le leader d’un des plus grand groupes issus de la NWOBHM ! Steven Paris ? Non, c’est pas ça. Stevie Horus ? Phillip Morris ?
Ah, je sais plus mais peu importe, puisque ici, on chronique l’album de Lauren HARRIS, rien à voir.
Nouvelle venue sur la scène UK, Lauren nous propose ici un album contrasté, aux sonorités multiples, navigant dans des eaux plutôt mélodieuses, mais ne rechignant pas sur le Rock bien couillu parfois.
Sa voix est plutôt agréable, sans atteindre des sommets, mais qui colle parfaitement au(x) style(s) choisi(s). On passe allègrement du titre pop musclé (« Get Over It »), au Hard-Rock endiablé (« Come On Over »), en passant par la ballade charmante et acoustique («Hurry Up »), et le radiophonique musclé (« Your Turn »).
L’ensemble dégage une impression de fraîcheur indéniable, comme en témoigne l’excellent titre « Hit Or Miss », et n’a d’autre prétention que de vous faire passer un bon moment, ce qui est le cas.
Bien sur, on évite pas l’écueil du poncif, avec de la redite et du passe partout (« Like It Or Not », « Steal Your Fire »), mais ce ne sont que des critiques mineures, car surnage heureusement le reste des morceaux, et on garde un goût frais en bouche, B.O d’un été qui s’annonce paisible et chaud (« See Through »).
Calm Before The Storm est une petite friandise à la pellicule acidulée révélant un cœur de caramel qui fond dans la bouche, et laisse une impression charmante, comme Lauren d’ailleurs, aussi jolie que sa musique est plaisante. Cet album ne révolutionnera pas la musique anglaise, mais ça n’est pas ce que l’on demande n’est ce pas ?
Merde, mais comment s’appelle ce mec ?? Il joue avec une Fender bleu horizon, et n’utilise pas de médiator !!
Mais si, vous connaissez !! Ah si, ça y est, Steve HARRIS !!
Je savais bien que je retrouverais son nom ! IRON MAIDEN, c’est son groupe non ?
Ah au fait, Lauren, c’est sa fille !
