NUCLEAR BLAST a 20 ans … et le fête, en deux temps. En deux albums, plus précisément : Into The Light, entièrement composé par Victor Smolski (guitariste de RAGE) et chanté par la crème des crèmes des chanteurs de Heavy Metal mélodique (Tobias Sammet d’EDGUY, Hansi Kürsch de BLIND GUARDIAN ou encore Tony Kakko de SONATA ARCTICA), et ce Out Of The Dark donc.
Comme son nom l’indique, Out Of The Dark se veut beaucoup plus sombre que son jumeau lumineux. La composition des titres a été confiée à Peter Wichers (ex-SOILWORK), qui joue quasiment tous les instruments, excepté la batterie, que se partagent l’excellent Dirk Verbeuren (SOILWORK, SCARVE) et Henry Ranta (ex … SOILWORK !). On est en famille, quoi …
D’emblée, premier constat : plutôt que de nous proposer des titres représentatifs de sa personnalité musicale, Wichers semble avoir écrit ses chansons pour ses interprètes. Ainsi, « Dysfunctional Hours », avec Anders Friden, sonne comme du IN FLAMES, « My Name Is Fate » et Mark Osegueda nous renvoient aux plus belles heures de DEATH ANGEL, etc … Un petit plaisir quand même : entendre à nouveau John Bush (ARMORED SAINT et ex-ANTHRAX), le Bruce Willis du Metal, qui éclabousse de toute sa classe « Paper Trail » et nous assène un refrain imparable. Au micro également, entre autres, Peter Tägtgren (PAIN, HYPOCRISY), Bjorn Strid (SOILWORK, décidément…), Maurizio Iacono (KATAKLYSM) ou encore Guillaume Bideau (MNEMIC) sur des titres bons, mais pas fantastiques non plus.
Mais cet album a un mérite : donner des idées à votre serviteur, qui aura 30 ans le 15 Octobre 2007. Alors Amis du Metal, sachez qu’un album entièrement composé par Hans Zimmer, Morten Veland et Tuomas Holopainen, et chanté par les douces Vibeke Stene (ex-TRISTANIA), Cristina Scabbia (LACUNA COIL), Doro Pesch, Simone Simons (EPICA) ou même Monika Pedersen (SIRENIA), lui ferait vraiment très plaisir. Avec, bien entendu, représentation scénique privée à son domicile (Madame sera sortie, j’espère). A vos téléphones…
PS : coup de fil de Blasphy De Blasphèmar à l’instant, aucune des invitées ne pourra venir. En revanche, Emperor Magus Caligula (DARK FUNERAL) et Varg Vikerness (BURZUM, qui, visiblement, en prison, « n’a pas mangé de viande depuis longtemps »), seraient dispos … La crise de la trentaine approche …
