The Infinite Wonders Of Creation est pour Luca Turilli, guitariste de RHAPSODY, le dernier volet d'une trilogie débutée en 1999 par King Of the Nordic Twilight. Chacune de ses réalisations a été l'occasion de s'éloigner toujours un peu plus du Power Metal de son groupe d'origine. Ainsi, après un premier album très rhapsodien dans l'âme, un Prophet Of The Last Eclipse plus enclin aux expérimentations Electro, Turilli achève sa mutation avec The Infinite Wonders Of Creation. En effet, ce troisième opus est sans conteste le plus symphonique des trois, le plus lyrique. Les éléments traditionnels du Metal - guitares, batterie - y sont d'ailleurs nettement en retrait.
La première surprise vient à l'issue du premier titre "Secrets Of Forgotten Ages" : après des chœurs épiques et enlevés, alors que la voie à une chevauchée de guitares semble être ouverte de la plus belle manière, Luca Turilli opte pour une autre orientation et fait la part belle aux vocaux, essentiellement lyriques même s'ils prennent parfois des accents Heavy ("Mother Nature"), de la nouvelle venue Bridget Fogle. Olaf Hayer, le chanteur habituel, est toujours là, mais il n'assure que rarement les vocaux principaux ("The Miracle Of Life", "Mystic And Divine"), n'intervenant plutôt qu'à titre secondaire ou sous la forme de duo ("Angels Of The Winter Dawn").
On ne peut reprocher au sieur Turilli ni sa modestie (il est rare qu'un guitariste qui se lance dans un projet solo ne cherche pas à mettre en avant sa capacité à manier son instrument) ni son talent de compositeur : il sait tout aussi bien créer des titres exclusivement lyriques ("Altitudes", "Silver Moon"), des refrains accrocheurs ("The Miracle Of Life", "Mystic And Divine") qu'utiliser les chœurs avec talent ("Cosmic Revelations", "The Miracle Of Life").
Pour autant, cet album, empreint de bons sentiments, ode à la Nature et au miracle de la vie, que Luca Turilli lie à une certaine dimension extraterrestre (d'où l'artwork et des titres comme "Cosmic Revelation" et son intro à la X-Files, "Pyramids And Stargates" mais aussi et surtout son utilisation appuyée (excessive ?) des claviers), peine à capter l'attention de l'auditeur tout au long de ces 50 minutes. La faute à ces mêmes claviers qui donnent une dimension trop synthétique à une musique qu'on aurait préféré plus humaine, plus charnelle, et à une composition trop lissée, trop uniforme là où on attendait un véritable concept album, avec ses moments d'accalmie et ses instants de passion et de ferveur.
