Ce groupe suédois a commencé à sévir en 1989 sous le nom de CORNERSTONE, en explorant en cours de route plusieurs voies, celles du Southern Rock, du Blues Rock, puis du Heavy/Hard Rock. A noter de nombreux concerts donnés dans ce beau pays qu’est la Suède et des participations à de nombreux festivals européens. Cet album est le premier enregistré sous le nom de STONEFUZE après plusieurs années d’absence.
La synergie lead/backing voices de Kent Franklin et Mick Nordström donne de la hargne et de la profondeur au chant sur la majorité des titres, la voix éraillée de Kent Franklin, seule, livrée à elle même, trouverait vite ses limites.
Le premier titre « Alive » donne le ton et illustre le genre et le style du groupe, du Heavy/Hard Rock, c’est dit. Le titre « Redeemer » n’est pas là pour démentir.<br<
Belle intro et ligne de basse dans « Motor Music » qui met en avant le jeu de Samuel Gustaffsson.
« Pollution Solution » se distingue par son rythme particulièrement pachydermique.
A l’écoute de « Pour Some Love », je me dis que Kent Franklin doit avoir des origines amérindiennes, son chant et le rythme, proches d’une danse tribale, sont dans la veine du mouvement né dans les 70’s, sur la cause des indiens et de la question des réserves, avec pour chefs de file (…indienne) REBDONE et les imparables frappes guerrières du batteur Pete DePoe, et BLACKFOOT avec le cherokee Ricky Medlocke (LYNYRD SKYNYRD).
Compte-tenu de l’exploration du groupe depuis 20 ans de diverses pistes musicales, je les verrais bien lorgner vers le Doom à l’écoute du titre final « Unknown »… pourquoi pas ! mais il ne faudra pas attendre 10 ans avant de sortir le prochain album, au risque de se faire oublier…
Petite expérience : Après l’écoute du dernier titre, enchaînez aussitôt avec le titre d’ouverture, vous aurez un bel aperçu de la palette que ce groupe peut vous proposer…le potentiel est là… Il doit trouver un écho auprès des amateurs du genre.
