Inutile de dire que ce live de HONEYMOON SUITE n’est pas l’album le plus attendu de 2005 ! Le label aura mis plus de deux ans et demi pour le sortir ce qui ne présageait déjà pas grand chose de bon.
Le groupe joue ce qu’il connaît : un AOR de bonne facture, sans grande originalité et légèrement marqué par le temps. Le style n’est pas désagréable mais la grande époque du groupe est révolue et, entre temps, d’autres formations se sont chargé de nous la faire oublier.
HONEYMOON SUITE est le dernier groupe en date a sortir un album enregistré lors du festival de Rock mélodique Gods en 2002. Inutile de dire que nous sommes loin des prestations de HARDLINE, HAREM SCAREM et surtout de Jeff Scott Soto enregistrées à la même occasion.
Ce live est dramatiquement mal rythmé à tel point que les temps morts occupent presque autant d’importance que les morceaux. L’enregistrement est de bonne qualité mais on peut regretter qu’une production plus draconienne n’ait pas coupé quelques longueurs afin de rendre l’ensemble plus intéressant. Ainsi aurait-on pu se passer du solo de synthé soporifique ou du solo de guitare lamentable et bourré de pains ! A la place, on aurait préféré entendre “Just Love Somebody”.
Le “New Girl Now” final a le mérite de nous sortir de notre torpeur.
