"Without Label, Without Management, Everyting done by Ourselves", ainsi s'ouvre le video clip de "Demonstrating My Saiya Style", chanson emblématique de RISE OF THE NORTH STAR, chantée en anglais et sous-titrée en japonais. Ce clip tourné pendant la tournée japonaise 2012 et publié en novembre 2012 sur Youtube a été visionnée 1 974 000 fois.
Combien de groupes de Metal extrême français peuvent se targuer d'avoir une video Youtube à presque 2 millions de vues ? Surtout quand ces vidéos, à l'instar de la musique qu'elles promeuvent ont été réalisées en pur DIY, sans management, sans label, sans aide extérieure.
S'ils n'étaient pas de gros méchants Coreux, Vithia (chant) et sa bande pourraient être les héros d'un conte de fées moderne. Un conte de fées où cinq petits gars passionnés par la culture nipponne arrivent à percer au pays du soleil levant avec leur Hardcore en anglais, preuve de plus que le frein à la diffusion de la culture n'est vraiment pas la langue ! (car contrairement à ce qu'on pourrait penser, les japonais ne parlent pas très bien l'anglais).
Après une petite intro en mode Manga - Jap'anim', on entre dans le vif du sujet avec "Sound of the Wolwes" qui porte en lui tous les éléments qui font le succès de ROTN. Une musique catchy, une rythmique en mode mur de son, une batterie qui crache les BPM, une guitare nerveuse, des couplets rentre dedans chantées dans un anglais à la prononciation approximative et des refrains à base d'onomatopées scandées, hautement addictives et faciles à répéter en rythme. Bref, chaque chanson a tout du morceau taillé pour et par la scène. Quant à l'accent anglais approximatif, ce n'est pas un handicap, loin de là, surtout quand il s'agit de séduire un public qui gère mal l'accentuation traditionnelle de la langue de Shakespeare (comme les français et les japonais).
Avant dernier titre de cette courte et explosive galette, "Demonstrating My Saiya Style" a vraiment tout pour être l'hymne du gang, c'est un concentré de puissance, de vitesse, d'agressivité et de méchant son qui botte des culs. Tout cela va si vite et si fort qu'à peine rendu à la moitié du morceau, on a l'impression qu'il dure déjà depuis 5 minutes. C'est intense. Dans le clip, le rythme est encore accéléré par la succession épileptique des images, jusqu'à l'accélération finale explosant sur une ultime charge du gros riff autoroute qui porte tout le morceau. Arrivé enfin à l'épilogue, on est complètement sonné.
Les quatre premiers tirs d'artillerie sont tous de la même eau. On en prend plein la gueule et on en redemande. La dernière chanson est plus posée. Avec son tempo un peu ralenti, "Protect Ya Chest" permet de faire souffler un peu la monture (mais pas trop quand même hein).
Il y a dans les six pistes de ce deuxième EP des parisiens une sincérité et une spontanéité que le groupe perd un peu sur l'album Welcame sorti deux ans plus tard chez Nuclear Blast. Bien que ces méfaits aient tous les deux été produits par la même équipe (Studio Sainte Marthe), Demonstrating My Saiya Style livre un son plus organique, moins travaillé, mais qui porte en lui une telle puissance, une telle violence, qu'il n'est de toute manière pas nécessaire d'en rajouter une couche en production.
Dans son jus et sans artifice, l'EP pèse déjà des tonnes.
