Sylvain Cloux, Metal Version Volume 1 … Volume 1, OK, mais « Metal Version » de quoi ? En fait, ça vous dirait un petit flash-back ? Un petit voyage dans les années 80, au pays de la Ferrari rouge et de son moustachu de détective, au pays de l’homme qui fabrique un tank avec un chewing gum, au pays de Dee Dee McCall, au pays de John et Ponch, au pays de Norman Tuttle, de Jessie Mach et de leur Faucon des Rues ? Bon je m’arrête là, vous avez compris le principe.
Sylvain Cloux, donc, guitariste de FIINKY PIE, s’est attelé à adapter ces génériques TV façon « avec des grosses coucougnettes ». Je ne vous cacherai pas que les versions les plus séduisantes sont celles qui étaient déjà écrites pour une bonne gratte lead, « Riptide » et « Rick Hunter » en tête. Cette démo démontre cependant la détermination d’un musicien à vouloir rendre hommage aux Mike Post et autres Randy Edelman le plus fidèlement possible. D’où des arrangements très travaillés sur chaque titre. C’est même plutôt Heavy sur « Knight Rider » (comprenez K2000), carrément tripant ! Déception en revanche sur la reprise de « Street Hawk », car aucune version ne vaudra jamais l’originale de TANGERINE DREAM, ou sur la cover du thème d’Indiana Jones, qui perd ici toute sa saveur …
S’il est vrai que cette démo n’apporte pas grand-chose ni au Metal, ni aux séries, elle permet quand même de passer un bon moment à se remémorer le charme des années 80 à la télé (aaaah ! Les premiers bikinis dans « Magnum » …). Et elle peut même faire office d’un bon blind-test entre potes.
C’est déjà ça de gagné.
PS : Sylvain, sur le Volume 2, y aura « Alerte à Malibu » ?
