Adeptes de Porno Death’n’Roll crasseux et repoussant, vous ne pourrez qu’être amateur et à la rigueur connaisseur des productions des autrichiens de PUNGENT STENCH, la puanteur piquante pour une traduction littérale dans le texte nettement moins glamour. Les graveleux viennois, princes de la finesse, de la légèreté et de la pudibonderie, aiment à surprendre de par leurs pochettes d’albums dégueulasses, leurs textes à l’humour noir carabiné et explicitement orientés sur les déviances du sexe (coprophagie, viols et maintenant amputations !) sous couvert de Death Metal Rock’n’Roll crado-humoristique. Les fans de Groland y trouveront assurément leur compte !
S’étant fait trop rare, le trio formé à l’origine en 1988, auréolé de sueur et d’albums forts sympathiques restés dans les annales les plus profondes dont For God Your Soul... For Me Your Flesh en 1990 ou Been Caught Buttering en 1991, s’est reformé en 1999 pour le plus grand plaisir des fans cannibales-cradingues que nous sommes. Bien moins primitives et sauvages qu’auparavant, les productions actuelles de PUNGENT STENCH sont bien plus immaculées et soignées à l’alcool à 90°, histoire de bien cautériser nos plaies et se mettre une mine au passage. Pour ce cinquième album au jeu de mot macabre Ampeauty, les puants viennois sont prêts à choquer de nouveau le monde avec des photos toujours aussi scandaleuses et limites chopées sur Ogrish et des paroles provocatrices ! PUNGENT STENCH semble donc tenir la forme. Et ca va couper !
Le trio prescrit un Death’n’Roll résolument plus direct et carré. Fortement influencés par le Rock et le Blues, nos nécros favoris imposent des titres bien cradingues comme les morceaux «Invisible Empire» et «Same Shit - Different Asshole» aux rythmiques assez thrashisantes. Et hop, une petite jambe par ci, un avant-bras par là…le Gore chez PUNGENT STENCH n’a pas de limite et c’est pour cela que ce groupe assez underground est estimé et respecté. Solide, bien en place techniquement, on a droit à de bons morceaux groovy tels que la négligée «No Guts, No Glory» ou le robuste «Got Milf». Sous forme de basses clinquantes et de riffs secs et putrides, le combo germain nous agrémente d’un Death’n’Roll savamment calculé. Indélicats, les trois estropiés nous livrent donc dix titres à l’identité sonore spécifique, du PUNGENT STENCH. Parfois linéaires et basiques, les compositions indécentes de Ampeauty mettent en valeur la science du Gore des autrichiens pour mieux faire passer le message principal : amputation pour tout le monde !
Pour résumé, c’est comme si PUNGENT STENCH faisait du CARCASS en moins Grind mais avec un ton d’humour noir bien supérieur, les noms des titres et d’albums parlant pour eux. Seulement cinquième livraison en vingt ans d’existence et toujours le même plaisir à faire leurs albums d’horreur comique Thrash… Du lourd !
