Détrompons-nous : la Suisse n’est pas qu’un pays de riches banquiers, thuriféraires du système. Cette douce contrée compte aussi son lot de contestataires : la preuve avec ce second scud d’ATTACK VERTICAL.
A l’écoute de cet album, on ne doute pas que cette jeune formation, dont l’âge des membres ne dépasse pas 25 ans, ait déjà donné une centaine de concerts tant ce Human Race est taillé pour la scène, le hurleur de service s’offrant même le luxe de lâcher quelques « go ! », histoire d’entraîner avec lui une fosse virtuelle mais presque palpable.
ATTACK VERTICAL propose une musique directe, facile d’accès mais sans être en aucun cas simpliste, avec une production live qui correspond bien à l’esprit du groupe. Dès l’intro de « Speeder », l’auditeur comprend à qui il a à faire : un groupe qui ne se contente pas de délivrer un message, mais qui apporte autant d’importances aux mélodies qu’il construit. ATTACK VERTICAL ne néglige jamais les breaks ni les solos, particulièrement nombreux et souvent inspirés (« Dad »). Dès la première écoute, certains refrains, mêlant voix claires et écorchées, ne vous lâcheront pas (« Speeder », « L’Ange ne passera plus »).
ATTACK VERTICAL n’est pas seulement un groupe Punk : c'est aussi (et même d’abord ?) un groupe de Metal enragé. Des influences s’inscrivent en filigranes : IN FLAMES (jusqu’au logo du groupe qui n’est pas sans rappeler le symbole figurant sur la pochette de Clayman ou encore sur celle de The Tokyo Showdown), FEAR FACTORY, SEPULTURA… Il suffit pour s’en convaincre d’écouter l’intro de « Mony » ou encore « Faites vos jeux », « Il était une fois »… ATTACK VERTICAL soigne particulièrement ses intros et il est difficile de résister, après quelques secondes d’écoute, à l’envie de remettre le morceau au début… rien que pour le plaisir des oreilles… Dommage que cet effort remarquable au niveau des intros (mais aussi des solos) ne se retrouve pas toujours pas dans les structures des titres, assez similaires. Le chant écorché (en français) est sans doute pour quelque chose dans cette impression, d’autant qu’il est souvent hurlé alors qu’il aurait mérité d’être plus nuancé, notamment sur « 26.12 » et ses mélodies au piano.
En définitive, un album engagé et enragé et tout à la fois frais, sincère et stimulant. A ne pas manquer.
