Lors de leur formation en 2001, les Suédois de ENEMIES SWE ont commencé par s’inspirer des dinosaures du Hard Rock tels que AEROSMITH, KISS, AC/DC et GUNS’N ROSES, à cela ils ont ajouté une bonne dose de SEX PISTOLS. Puis leur style a évolué en incluant à ces différents ingrédients une touche de Heavy Rock qui penche entre MOTORHEAD et le Rock Sudite. Dans tous les cas, le Metal de ENEMIES SWE est crasseux, il pue le whisky, la sueur et la cigarette... Alors, forcément, on aime bien !
Pas de fioritures, ni d’artifices, le groupe attaque direct avec des riffs francs et massifs, une rythmique virile ainsi que des refrains bien catchies entonnés par un chant rocailleux à souhait. Les solos font souvent penser à Slash. Tantôt rapide et nerveux (“Enemy”, “Sliced And Diced”), tantôt Heavy Rock (“Mainstream King”), franchement plus Punk (“Elvis In Brooklyn”), le ton sait aussi se faire traînant et lancinant comme sur “Nasty Idol”, un mid tempo qui fait penser à D.A.D.
L’aventure s’achève sur “Rock‘n Roll School” qui a le mérite de rester en tête.
Behind Enemy Lines n’est certes pas révolutionnaire, il n’a pas beaucoup de personnalité, il ne fera pas non plus beaucoup avancer le Rock, mais il nous réserve une agréable écoute, en repensant à la vieille époque... en attendant la démocratie en Chine !
