Comment expliquer l’inexplicable ? L’inexplicable, c’est d’abord cet optimisme et cette dévotion béni-oui-oui qu’accorde la tribu des rosbifs à la moindre apparition de TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED. La Manche doit être une frontière naturelle dans le cahier des charges d’un bon Deathcore, sinon, sous le joug de quelle divinité peut-on pareillement encenser une telle misère ? L’inexplicable, c’est ensuite la suppression des derniers clichés pas si mauvais qui garnissaient leur dernier disque, Purgation. Cover ambiance « Haute Tension », titres courts, nombreux et déflagrants joués sous l’égide d’un Deathcore encore potable, les anglais ont fait le choix de percer leurs ultimes bouées de sauvetage.
La pochette est hideuse au plus haut point. On dirait un screen des Sims version Tchernobyl. Je ne parle pas de la musique. Enfin, si ! Puisque j’en suis contraint. Elle me plonge moi aussi, dans une grande dépression post-destruction du tympan mal orchestrée. De dix-sept, on est passés à onze tracks. De quelques secondes, on atteint souvent les trois voire quatre minutes. Si une pointe de Grind demeurait en Purgation, elle disparaît totalement de la circulation ici. The Great Depression est une catastrophe retentissante. Bien entendu, pour un groupe qui s’appelle TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED, il était normal de trigger la batterie pour un rendu calamiteux. C’est tellement bruyant qu’on ne s’entend plus penser. Dans une veine tentative d’annihiler nos derniers neurones, nos petits gorets se vautrent lamentablement. Il est extrêmement compliqué d’en sortir quelque chose de positif puisque pour cela, il aurait fallu distinguer ne serait-ce qu’un effort dans la composition et non un matraquage perpétuel. Tout juste apprécierons-nous le final désarticulé de « Warbound », les modifications rythmiques opérées sur « Dessicate Earth » et la courte mi-temps sifflée par « Interlude – I », en dépit d’un problème de créativité qu’on n’a même plus envie de résoudre. Ce carnage devient purement et simplement clownesque au fil des secondes. Au point qu’on atteint la torture sur « The Infliction Of Tophet » ou « Disfigured Anonimity ». Bon, je suis quand même assez mauvaise langue. Il y’a quand même un instant sur « Terminus » où l’on passe un très bon moment. Il se situe lors des dernières secondes, qui marquent la fin de The Great Depression. Quel plaisir d’entendre à nouveau la quiétude et le silence. Une dernière petite déclaration d’amour pour notre bourreau d’un instant : mon bon Jonny : je te souhaite de continuer encore longtemps à beugler comme un yak dans ton micro si ça t’amuse. Mais n’oublies pas que pour ta santé, il faut manger au moins cinq fruits et légumes par jour. De préférence en même temps. Et étouffes-toi avec.
Les seules personnes susceptibles d’être comblées par TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED sont les sado-masos et les oto-rhino-laryngologues, qui peuvent commencer à agrandir leurs salles d’attentes. Beaucoup de bruit pour pas grand-chose…
