Parfois, quand on reçoit une démo, même avec seulement trois titres, c’est long. Très, très long. Et parfois, c’est court. Beaucoup trop court. Je vous rassure, INMOST se classe dans la seconde catégorie. Parce que les trois titres passent trop vite et qu’on aimerait bien avoir quelque chose de plus consistant à se mettre sous la dent. Ne serait-ce que deux ou trois titres en plus, histoire de vérifier qu’ils sont capables, sur plus de longueur, de tenir le même niveau de qualité. Parce que de qualité, cette démo n’en manque certes pas.
INMOST et son … Theories naviguent dans un mélange savant de Death et de Thrash qui nous colle un pain bien placé afin de nous mettre à genoux, afin de mieux profiter de l’écoute dans cette position soumise. Sans complexe, la formation s’applique sur des riffs énergiques et s’amuse à changer de rythme quand bon leur semble, comme pour bien nous balader. Pourtant, tout est d’une grande cohérence et on ne se sent jamais perdu. C’est certes assez technique, mais on n’est pas noyée par cette technique. C’en est une bonne (t’en veux ?), au service des trois morceaux, « Murder Is Not A Crime », « The First And The Second » et « The Sound Of Thoughts ». Et, surtout, la puissance n’est jamais remise en cause par cette technique. Certains râleront peut-être de la production, mais elle est plus qu’acceptable pour une démo. De plus, cela donne un petit coté roots au domaine Thrash qui fait vibrer la corde de la nostalgie. Et puis, cela conforte dans l’univers rude et sans réelle lumière dans lequel le groupe nous convie.
Il y a bien quelques coquilles par moment, surtout dans des breaks de batterie qui semble s’enchainer de manière un peu bancale, mais rien qui pourrait faire dire que le groupe n’a pas d’avenir. J’espère même qu’il en aura un parce que cette démo donne vraiment envie d’en savoir plus sur INMOST.
