Généralement lorsqu’on enregistre un album solo, c’est pour pouvoir exprimer un certain nombres de choses que l’on ne peut faire avec son groupe, s’aventurer dans des styles différents. Pas David Readman. Lui, l’aventure, il s’en fout. Il fait un album solo, et tant pis si ça ressemble à ce qu’il fait par ailleurs.
Après avoir quitté ADAGIO, Readman a commencé à réunir des idées de chansons en vue d’un album solo. Après plusieurs mois d’écriture, il part en studio. Mais son enregistrement perso est interrompu par celui de PINK CREAM 69. C’est après ce long break qu’il peut achever son album. Ce retour de PC69 au moment où il tente de partir de son côté est sans doute la raison pour laquelle cet album est si peu personnel. Que l’on soit bien clair : c’est un album de PINK CREAM 69 ! Il a même eu du mal à éconduire ses musiciens habituels puisqu’on retrouve Uwe Reitenauer à la guitare. Il est vrai qu’il s’est aussi entouré de Gunther Verno (VANDENPLAS) et Alex Beyrodt (SILENT FORCE), mais rien n’y fait.
Si ce n’est son manque de personnalité, on ne peut faire aucun reproche à cet album qui cumule toutes les qualités d’un bon album de Hard FM : structures musicales agréables, riffs sympas, bons refrains, etc. L’interprétation et la production sont soignés.
En gros, si vous aimez PINK CREAM 69, cet album est pour vous.
