MINISTRY (usa) - The Last Sucker (2007)

Sniff, c’est fini… En effet, Al[ien] Jourgensen a annoncé que The Last Sucker serait le dernier album de ce monstre sacré qu’est MINISTRY. Il compte se consacrer entièrement à son label, 13th Planet Records, et passer derrière les manettes à plein temps. Et puis, comme il le dit aussi, quitter la scène en même temps que sa tête de turc favorite, j’ai nommé George W. Bush, est sans doute une bonne chose. Un dernier clin d’œil ou pied de nez à ce président abruti. Mais avant de dire que c’est fini, il y a quand même cet album à écouter. Et on peut dire que The Last Sucker pose une dernière pierre de belle qualité à l’édifice MINISTRY.
Le ton est donné dés le premier morceau, « Let’s Go ». Ce sera rapide, les guitares à bloc et la hargne bien présente. Les corones sont dans le calbut, prêtes à être posées sur la table. La retouche Indus nécessaire qui donne ce petit son cradingue est bien entendu de la partie. Et les riffs sont acérés comme les baïonnettes des soldats que Dubya envoie un peu partout dans le monde pour apporter sa bonne parole écœurante. Et quand on possède un Thomas Victor avec soi pour les exécuter, on est sûr que le résultat sera des plus probants.
Pas vraiment de mid tempo sur cette galette, donc. On pourrait se laisser abuser par moments avec des introductions un petit peu plus lourdes, mais c’est pour mieux nous rentrer dans le lard par la suite (« Watch Yourself »). On pourrait même croire qu’on va partir sur un morceau plus blues version Indus (« No Glory »), mais là encore, c’est pour nous prendre par les sentiments et nous emmener vers un des morceaux les plus speed de cet album. « Death & Destruction », avec des samples de voix de, on s’en doute, Dubya, nous martèle les tympans avec sa boite à rythmes frénétique échappée de la fabrique d’un fou. « Die In A Crash » possède les guitares très rock qui donne envie de hurler (comme le dit un petit bonhomme de trois ans que je connais bien) « Mosk’m’Moll, yeeaaahhhhh ! ». Et puis on termine sur le diptyque « End Of Days ». La première partie est très lourde, pesante. La seconde, qui ne varie pas beaucoup sur le tempo, est plus calme sur les guitares mais possède un long monologue de celui qui se croit encore le maître du monde. Ça fout les boules, ça fait rager, mais cela conclue sûrement de la plus belle des manières cette belle carrière de l’Alien Jourgensen. Sûr qu’on le retrouvera derrière les bannières pour fustiger la connerie humaine un jour ou l’autre.
