Un an après un Live atomique totalement culte : Death Cornes In 26 Carefully Selected Pieces, revoici IMPALED NAZARENE encore et toujours déchaîné et hystérique avec sa nouvelle bombe : Pro Patria Finlandia ! Souvenez-vous, nos finlandais déjantés sont les fondateurs du Nuclear Black Metal, c'est-à-dire violent, sans pitié, haineux, furieux et speed ! Souvent appelé les MOTORHEAD de l’extrême, les 14 titres proposés ici se démarquent quelque peu de ce à quoi le groupe nous a habitué.
La première chose absolument remarquable est la qualité incroyable du son! Malgré l’intensité et la brutalité des morceaux, la production est monumentale et décape les oreilles... Le son est compact, intense, massif et limpide. Le mixage est également parfait pour ce gros Black Metal ultra sauvage teinté d'une bonne dose de Crust et de Punk.
Plus haineux, plus rapide, plus direct, Pro Patria Finlandia comporte quelques monuments de brutalité « Weapons To Tame A Land » et d’autres un peu plus mélodiques « One Dead Nation Under Dead God » qui va devenir un véritable hymne pour le groupe. La batterie matraque tout sur son passage et rend l'ensemble de cet album encore plus hargneux qu'avant, malgré des guitares par moments très mélodiques (mais toujours hyper rapide) comme sur « Something Sinister » et son riff principal typiquement suédois. Les musiciens se servent désormais parfaitement de leur artillerie et exploitent leur force de frappe de façon remarquable ! Les morceaux déboulant à deux cents à l’heure et rares sont les moments de répits.
IMPALED NAZARENE aime toujours autant provoquer son auditoire, et ce n’est pas « Goat Sodomy » qui dépote sévèrement avec ses paroles très directes qui va prouver le contraire. Rien que le titre de ce nouvel album peut apparaître très ambigus (bien que le groupe dément l’avoir fait sciemment…).
Après des hauts (Ugra Karma, Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz) et des bas (Rapture) musicalement parlant, I.N. a su évoluer tout en gardant ses convictions et en revenant à la sauvagerie qui l’a fait connaître. Ces 38 minutes montrent que la bande de Mika Lutinen (le huleur) revient en force, plus puissante et vicelarde que jamais ! IMPALED NAZARENE arrive encore à s'améliorer et à évoluer et surtout à rester unique et provocateur !
