Toujours portés sur la grandeur de ce que fut jadis la Nation Celtibère, les textes de BERSERK sont toujours aussi bariolés de ce petit esprit de clocher cher à leurs yeux. Surfant ad vitam eternam sur ce concept, on a vite fait de déchanter tant il y a peu à se mettre sous la dent, avec quatre compositions originelles (dont une intro) et quatre morceaux Live. Du reste, les morceaux ont au moins le mérite d’être fluides, longs et travaillés!
Suite à une intro parfaitement superflue, le groupe enchaîne avec « Forest Of Souls In The Wolf’s Land » et « The Great Celtiberia », deux titres au rythmiques lorgnant parfois vers le Punk et le Heavy, ce qui apporte leur apporte de la fraîcheur, en dépit d’un son plutôt laborieux mais qui passe tout de même.
On n’évite guère les truismes et autres caricatures d’un genre qui s’est depuis longtemps sabordé et auto gangrené, mais toujours est-il que les Hispaniques jouent sans complexes et déposent un Black Metal sincère et persuasif, à défaut de paraître original.
Viennent ensuite quatre titres live dont une cover de BURZUM, « Lost Wisdom » enregistrés au début de l’année dernière en Espagne. Le son demeure somme toute correct, même si quelques grésillements des plus déplaisants font leur apparition et viennent bouder notre plaisir.
A voir sur scène plutôt que d’écouter leurs morceaux Live sur disques. Pour le reste, BERSERK continue son petit bonhomme de chemin et espère ainsi rallier de nombreux fans à son Black Metal païen et vindicatif à souhait.
