Nous ayant habitué au pire depuis quelques temps déjà, H.I.M. revient avec un album plus convaincant. Enfin... moins mauvais. Enfin... mauvais, hein... mais moins.
Cela commençait plutôt bien avec le phrasé sympathique de “Vampire Heart” accompagné de quelques riffs qu’on n’espérait plus. Puis un “Rip Out The Wings Of A Butterfly” entraînant et plutôt supérieur aux dernières livraisons de Valo et sa bande. Ça n’allait pas durer !
Dark Light est un concentré de mièvreries, toujours pompeusement étiquetées Love Metal alors que l’on se demande bien ce qu’il peut rester de Metal là dedans. Les titres se suivent et se ressemblent. On trouve ça et là des passages intéressants et agréables mais ils sont tellement noyés dans les mélodies sirupeuses qu’on peine à s’y plonger.
L’intro de “Killing Loneliness” est quand même complètement pompée sur “Still Water Runs Deep” de THE 69 EYES ! Juste l’intro, parce qu’après ça devient très mauvais.
Et je défie quiconque lira ces lignes d’écouter en entier la chanson “Dark Light” sans avoir envie de jeter le cd par la fenêtre.
Même les fans indécrottables devrons admettre, la larme à l’œil, que nous sommes à des années-lumière de Razorblade Romance.
