Ce nouvel album devait marquer le retour du groupe à ses premières amours, c’est-à-dire un hard rock vitaminé et regorgeant de refrains imparables. Hélas, ce n’est pas le cas. Les compos manquent cruellement de la hargne qui a fait le succès du groupe. On est résolument très loin de Virgin Killer, Black Out ou encore Love At First Sting. Si le groupe a fait une si longue parenthèse dans son style originel, c’est sans doute qu’il n’y croyait plus. Nous avions tort de penser que les allemands se complaisaient dans le style commercial, en définitive ils n’ont plus la rage depuis longtemps ; cet album censé être un retour aux sources en est la meilleure preuve. Oh, bien sûr, on y trouve davantage de riffs que précédemment, mais est-ce suffisant venant d’un groupe de cette ampleur ?
Il suffit d’écouter Klaus Meine pour comprendre que l’envie d’en découdre a quitté le groupe il y a longtemps.
Pour nous, les vieux, SCORPIONS restera le groupe de Rock You Like A Hurricane, et tant pis pour ce Unbreakable qui ne casse rien !
