Nous voici donc en présence du troisième album du combo en trois ans !
Ça fait mal hein ?
On peut légitimement se poser la question de savoir si l’inspiration est toujours là dans tant de prolifération ?
L’incroyable pochette qui reprend là où celle du premier album s’était arrêtée, me donne matière à espérer. Cette dernière est à la fois doucereuse de brutalité et aussi lumineuse que le fond d’une tranchée guerrière. C’est avec une anxiété toute relative que je glisse l’objet du désire dans la fente de mon appareil. Et, hum, quelle délectation !
L’introduction est jouissive posant les jalons du premier titre rappelant sans conteste un IN FLAMES sous amphétamine. Certains diront HYPOCRISY !
L’important est que ça dépote sévère entre les esgourdes et que le petit geste non volontaire de la nuque s’enclenche.
C’est totalement guerrier et les insultes crachées à la face du monde par un Johan LINDSTRAND des grands Jours font mouche à chaque ouverture de son goitre.
Arrive le deuxième morceau, moins bestiale que le précédent, mais de très bonne facture tout de même. De plus son refrain possède un je ne sais quoi d’ENTOMBED période Death’n’Roll qui devrait rendre folle les différentes salles de leur prochaine tournée.
Lorsque soudain apparaît « Cursed with the Knife », on est scotché à son appareil audio. C’est tout bonnement énorme !
Ça déboîte sans concession, ce titre est taillé pour la scène avec son « Are You Ready ? ». Dantesque. Et on s’imagine sans mal à brailler de toutes ses tripes dans la fosse en bousculant avec véhémence tous ses voisins de parquet.
Mais voilà, la Vie est mal faite et ce n’est un secret pour personne.
La suite est une liste de titres sans âmes où je me suis retrouvé plus qu’à mon tour à regarder le compteur de ma chaîne pour savoir si nous avions changé de piste. Bien entendu quelque riffs de ci et de là viennent démontrer que le groupe en a encore sous la semelle.
Nous possédons alors la réponse à la question posée en introduction de mon article. Non l’inspiration n’est point présente sur la longueur !
Il est bien dommage de constater qu’un disque partit sur les chapeaux de roues dans ses premiers émois se répète ainsi. C’est donc une grande déception qui m’accable et c’est avec regret que je referme cette page de l’histoire.
Mon seul espoir est que les musiciens attendent un peu plus avant leur prochaine réalisation sous peine d’enlisement total.
Reste tout de même cet hymne intemporel en quatrième position.
