« Etre humain, immonde déchet ». Considérons cette maxime comme le leitmotiv de Blood & Vomit, premier album de NATTEFROST. Le charismatique et controversé leader de CARPATHIAN FOREST s'est donc tenté à l'incartade solitaire. Un tel acte ne pouvait passer inaperçu. A quoi peut-on s'attendre avec un album intitulé sobrement « sang & vomi » entre les mains ? Ici, c'est principalement de scatologie sauce « bling-bling Satan » dont il sera question.
La cover m’a laissé clairement indifférent… et c’est dommage. Passons maintenant à l'analyse auditive. Le premier morceau, « Ancient Devil Worship », plante le décor. Un souffle blasphématoire s'abat sur l'Eglise à grand coups de riffs assassins. Les trois morceaux suivants, « Sluts Of Hell », « Satanic Victory » et « Universal Funeral » s'enchaînent dans le même esprit bien qu'une variation rythmique débarque sur le dernier. Hélas, ça ne suffit pas à donner du relief à un opus bien plat. On a affaire là à du True/Black Metal old-school, très old-school même ! Les sonorités grésillantes dérangent mais pas autant que l'intro de « The Art Of Spiritual Purification ». Il n'y a pas meilleur moyen que de se purifier les tripes en écoutant ce titre en plein repas. La longue intro soumet notre ouïe au plaisir d'entendre NATTEFROST vomir. Je vous laisse le plaisir de deviner d'où provient le chouette bruit qu’on entend au début de « Nattefrost Takes A Piss »...
Au final, musicalement, on se contentera de ça..., NATTEFROST ne se démarque (en bien ou en mal, selon les goûts) que pour son originalité toute relative. Car avouons qu'en matière de Black Metal c'est franchement décevant, surtout venant d’un tel génie. Même s’il dérange (et à priori c'est son but), il y'a l'art et la manière de le faire et pour ça, le norvégien ne m’a pas l’air bien inspiré. Alors oui, certains me diront que je n’ai pas saisi le message subliminal du disque et je tiens d’ailleurs à féliciter ceux qui ont pris du plaisir à entendre un mec uriner et vomir. Ce n’est pas cet unique détail qui me perturbe, c’est l’odeur de réchauffé qui se dégage du Black Metal ici pratiqué. Allez, terminons sur une note positive ; l’outro clownesque et inattendue qui au fond, me fait penser que cet essai n’est pas à prendre au sérieux.
