Les Anglais de TOWERS OF LONDON ont l’ambition de révolutionner le Rock actuel, ce serait une excellente idée si le cocktail qu’ils nous offrent n’avait pas 30 ans ! Car ce mélange détonnant de Punk, de Hard Rock et de Pop n’est pas nouveau. Côté révolution, on repassera. Par contre il serait injuste de condamner cet album sous prétexte qu’il ne correspond pas aux ambitions du groupe. Car il faut avouer que ce premier essai est plutôt réussi. On passe un bon moment en compagnie de ce vieux Rock hargneux qui pue la bière et sent la sueur de hooligans. Les 12 titres, très courts, s’enchaînent sans qu’on y prenne garde. Les musiciens ne diluent pas leur énergie dans des parties instrumentales complexes, ils vont à l’essentiel avec des riffs simples et des refrains efficaces accompagnés de chœurs, le tout servi par une production très crue qui renforce cette ambiance surannée. Pas d’effets spéciaux, aucun gadget superflu ; leur Rock sort directement des amplis. Le fort accent anglais de Donny Tourette est une cerise sur le gâteau.
