Cela fais déjà un moment que je vous ai parlé du nouvel album de Seyminhol, Septentrion's Walk. Pour être plus précis, dans l'interview réalisé en octobre 2003. Un an et demi s'est écoulé durant lequel le groupe a rencontré de nombreux écueils, le dernier en date étant un problème de pressage, repoussant la sortie du disque encore un fois. Un an et demi c'est long mais Seyminhol en a profité pour peaufiner ses morceaux et le résultat est probant.
Septentrion's Walk reprend là ou s'arrêtait Northern Recital pour ce qui est de l'histoire. Musicalement, Seyminhol a évolué en renforçant ses riffs de guitares, ses orchestrations, utilisant aussi plus de passage en Latin et Scandinave rendant ainsi sa musique plus puissante. Dès les deux premiers titres "The Christians World's Death Throes" et "A Furore Normannorum", l'auditeur est replongé immédiatement dans le concept pour ne plus en sortir. La suite s'avère tout aussi excellente avec "Return Of The Long Snake" et ses notes de claviers rappelant parfois inconsciemment Conan Le Barbare (NDLR: musique composée par Basil Poledouris). De nombreux instruments, comme la flûte, la cornemuse, des violons et des percussions s'intègrent parfaitement aux morceaux.
La pièce maîtresse de cet album est sans conteste "Godfred's Will", épique à souhait avec son riff à la Dream Theater dans sa première partie, puis passant allègrement vers un plan rappelant la grande époque d'Helloween, celle de Keeper Of The Seven Keys, pour se terminer sur un passage où une voix Black/Death fait son apparition. L'album se termine sur l'envoûtant "Breath Of Fate" où la magnifique voix cristalline de Deborah Hofer fait merveille sur ses passages solos tout comme son union avec celle de Kevin Kazek sur les couplets en duos.
Nombreux sont ceux qui ne jurent que par Rhapsody quand il s'agit de Metal épique. Il est désormais temps de mettre les Italiens au placard et de se ruer sur Seyminhol. La France vient de trouver la réponse à la formation transalpine.
Septentrion's Walk est un chef d'œuvre.
