Etrangement, moi qui affectionne tout ce qui porte un "core" aux fesses, le Hardcore pur et dur n'a jamais été ma tasse de thé. Il y a bien ALL FOR NOTHING qui avait retenu mon attention, mais en dehors de ça, je n'ai pas plus approfondi le genre. J'espère donc que les toulousains de THIS LIFE se feront une joie de me faire vibrer avec leur Hardcore moderne. Formés en 2012, nos gaillards se sont mis rapidement au travail pour nous sortir ce premier album en 2013, mixé par Fryzzzer (SIDILARSEN). A peine commencé, je sens qu'eux et moi allons fichtrement bien nous entendre durant ce petit laps de temps qui s'annonce bien mouvementé.
On ne va pas y aller par quatre chemins : THIS LIFE, c'est le bien. Leur musique est claire, précise, fluide et le plus important : elle envoie ! La galette est homogène et on arrive pourtant sans souci à distinguer les différents morceaux. Le son est clair et dote les instruments d'une précision qui est la bienvenue. Dans l'ensemble, les morceaux, d'une durée variée, présentent chacun leur hargne sous différentes formes. De plus, il n'est pas rare d'avoir droit à une petite envolée mélodique bien sympathique ("Are We Ready", "Who Order Who"), qui prouve que nos toulousains ne sont pas du genre à foncer bêtement dans le mur. On sent à travers ce Lies About The Truth la volonté de vouloir explorer d'autres horizons et ainsi, d'apporter ce petit quelque chose en plus pour pouvoir nous faire frémir.
La bande y parvient non sans un certain succès au travers du style qu'ils maîtrisent dans sa globalité. Dans le lot, seul le vocaliste manque un peu de pep's, mais au moins, son timbre colle plutôt bien à l'ensemble des titres. La présence de Seb (THE GREAT DIVIDE) sur la piste "Age To Thrill" apporte un peu de fraîcheur à l'album et permet au groupe d'œuvrer dans un registre plus aigu au niveau des gueulantes le temps d'un titre.
Vous doutez encore des capacités de la formation ? Ecoutez dont le morceau le plus long de la galette, "Mediatalks", et osez me dire que les gaillards ne savent pas tenir sur la longueur ! Enfin, on ne se quitte pas sans un petit final bien senti sur "Celebrity's Bells" qui ne fait que confirmer une fois de plus la présence de détermination et d'acharnement à vouloir sortir du lot. Et si nos gaillards continuent dans cette voie, nul doute qu'ils y parviendront. Maintenant que le plus gros du travail est fait, il ne reste plus qu'à maintenir le cap et à survivre au milieu de l'arène. En revanche, il m'est hélas impossible de vous dire s'ils en auront la force. Seul THIS LIFE le prouvera en temps voulu.
La seule chose dont je suis sûr, c'est que j'appréhendais ce premier rendez-vous. Et depuis le moment où nos deux vies se sont croisées, j'en ai redemandé encore et encore. Les toulousains ont donc réussi leur premier coup (de poing). Continuez à vous battre comme vous l'avez fait les gars. Ce fut bref, mais douloureux, et dans le bon sens du terme en plus ! En toute sincérité, je ne pensais pas que Lies About The Truth me décoincerait autant, moi qui me suis retenu pendant la totalité des écoutes de l'album. Un bon coup de genou dans les roustons, voilà tout ce que je mérite. Au moins, je l'aurais pas volé celui là.
