Comme dit l'adage on ne change pas une équipe qui gagne...
Attendez ! Qu'est-ce que je raconte moi, je ne l'ai pas déjà dit ça ?
Ha, mais si pour la chronique d'Infected !
Et si ce n'était que le seul problème, c'est que le groupe lui même ne sent pas les choses ainsi, voyez plutôt : Karsten JÄGER – Vocals, Olly LENZ – Guitar, Jan Dirk LÖFFLER – Guitar, Kai BERGERIN – Drums et Joe TRUNK – Bass.
Oh, zut mauvais exemple car ici aucun changement n'est à noter sur cette production. Pourtant si on n'y regarde de plus prêt on remarque un virage inattendu derrière les manettes. En effet, point de Andy CLASSEN à la console mais Heinz HESS et Tommy SCHMITT. Et l'équipe grossit encore avec le mastering qui se voit confié à Thomas KORGE au AT MAGIC MASTERS.
Tout ceci laisse imaginer une évolution dans la qualité du son, mais jusqu'à quel degré ?
Point besoin d'être prophète en esthétique sonore pour très vite se rendre compte que le rendu n'est pas à la hauteur de nos attentes. Le mixage légèrement renfermé sur lui même ne donne pas l'ampleur attendue et transforme le phonème en petite bête inoffensive. Nous ne nageons pourtant pas dans les bas fonds de l'Underground ou dans la bouillie sonore du True Black fond de cave, mais tout de même pour un quatrième opus c'est pour le moins décevant.
Mais lorsque le bas blesse, l'on boit la coupe jusqu'à la lie.
Car non l'étincelle ni est plus, oui vous savez, celle qui rendait l'album précédent si sombre et désespéré. En lieu et place de la mélancolie on trouve de longues plages de monotonie. Et cette voix qui a toujours transformé les parties les plus aériennes en moment d'agressivité d'une rare intensité, s'efface elle aussi ; Karsten semble chanter machinalement en oubliant cette volonté destructrice qui l'animait jusque là.
Pourtant les 10 pistes ne sont pas toutes à mettre dans le même panier et quelques perles comme « Shine », « Mad Sick Mankind » ou encore « Honour Killing » viennent relever le niveau.
Mais tout ceci paraît bien peu face à la longue set list :

Je trouve même assez subjectif deux de ces titres quasiment prémonitoires.
Un probable début d'explication est à chercher du côté des délais entre chaque sortie puisque moins d'un an sépare les deux enregistrements.
Si je devais donc résumer la chose je dirai qu'un peu de précipitation, un soupçon de pression et une pincée de manque d'inspiration auraient fait de ce recueil un très bon album dans n'importe quelle autre discographie, mais est en dessous du lot dans celle de nos amis allemands.
Une question alors, serait-il possible qu'une formation digne de ce nom ne commette jamais l'erreur de sortir un mauvais disque ?
