Il y a quelques mois est sorti le nouvel album de THESYRE intitulé Résistance, mettant un terme au contrat liant les québécois au label Français Osmose débuté en 2006 avec leur précédent opus Exist. Pendant les 3 ans séparant la sortie de ces deux albums, THESYRE en a aussi profiter pour enregistrer et sortir 2 split EP (format que le groupe affectionne) avec les norvégiens de AUDIOPAIN et les grecs de MACABRE OMEN.
Résistance, le nouvel album est entièrement composé de paroles en français très engagé politiquement et socialement. Le groupe avait déjà tenté l’expérience sur un ou deux morceaux auparavant, mais jamais sur un album complet. Structurellement aussi, les canadiens reviennent à quelque chose de plus conventionnel : l’album est composé de plusieurs morceaux bien distincts et non d’un seul de près de 40 minutes comme cela était le cas sur Exist.
Musicalement, THESYRE a aussi pas mal évolué et s’est orienté vers un Black-Thrash particulièrement entrainant. Les titres sont dynamiques et ne tombent pas dans une furie inutile. Le groupe est revenu à des choses plus simples, efficaces et directes. Fini l’expérimentation, les compositions se veulent plus « rentre dedans », les structures sont plus simples plus directe. Autant sur Exist, la musique du groupe penchait vers un Black Metal aux tendances Thrash, autant sur Résistance c’est l’inverse qui se produit. Bien sûr l’inspiration du groupe se trouve toujours dans la noirceur d’un Black Metal froid, mais la direction musicale empruntée a d’avantage évolué vers une musique Thrash dans les riffs, les rythmes et les lignes de chant.
Le chant justement me fait penser à mélange entre un Mille Petrozza (KREATOR) hurlant en français et ceux du groupe français IMPERIAL (qui a sorti quelques albums de Thrash/Black sur Osmose au début des années 2000). Le dernier morceau se démarque de l’ensemble : titre à l’atmosphère plus ambiante, aux sonorités plus industrielles, voir bruitiste, ces 5 dernières minutes contraste avec le reste de l’album sans pour autant faire tache dans le contenu.
Résistance est un bon album de Black Thrash, mais sans plus… ayant beaucoup apprécié le concept album précédent Exist qui a demandé une recherche musicale et original vraiment performante, je suis quelque peu déçu de l’orientation plus « simpliste » qu’a décider de suivre THESYRE…
