Lorsque la vieille garde ralentie le tempo, s'endort sur ses lauriers ou disparaît, les jeunes loups aux dents acérées s'engouffrent dans la brèche laisser ouverte par leurs illustres prédécesseurs. C'est le cas avec The Black Dahlia Murder.
Le premier album des ces américains a tout pour marquer les esprits. Piochant allégrement leurs influences, sans pour autant que cela soit gênant dans le Death suédois (At The Gates) pour les riffs, chez Immolation pour la brutalité mais aussi dans le Black pour certains vocaux. La quasi totalité des titres se font sur des tempos supersoniques pour notre plus grand plaisir.
On gardera tout de même une réserve en mettant un léger bémol sur ce "Unhallowed" parfois un peu trop linéaire mais à n'en pas douter The Black Dahlia Murder risque fort de marquer les esprits avec cet excellent album.
