LAETHORA est un groupe suédois qui ne joue pas du Death mélodique mais du vrai Death / Grind old school. Alléluia ! Qui plus est : s’il s’agit là de leur premier album, LAETHORA est composé du guitariste de DARK TRANQUILLITY, Niklas Sundin, et de trois membres de THE PROVENANCE, ce qui explique la maturité confondante de ce March Of The Parasite. Re-Alléluia ! Pour autant, ce passé musical ne pèse en rien sur les différents musiciens qui ne se contentent pas de reproduire des formules éculées dans leurs autres formations. LAETHORA possède son propre son et ses structures bien à lui et ce sont surtout les amateurs d'ENTOMBED qui peuvent d'ores et déjà sortir leur portefeuille. La production se veut définitivement old school, crasseuse, poisseuse – il suffit d’écouter l’intro de « Clothing For The Dead ». Difficile de s’échapper de cette atmosphère qui vous colle à la peau et vous imprègne. Il règne également ici et là un parfum sudiste qui vous transporte dans les marais infestés de Louisiane et les abattoirs abandonnés du Texas… Autant dire que l’ambiance est lourde. Le Death des Suédois ne se veut pas technique mais ces riffs qui infestent ce March Of The Parasite vous obsèdent rapidement comme le ferait une mouche ou un moustique qui prendrait quelque plaisir à virevolter à proximité de vos oreilles. Bien que les blasts soient présents et nécessaires, ils se révèlent presque anecdotiques tant LAETHORA prend toute son ampleur dans les mid tempos (« Black Void Remembrance » et son break voix claire hypnotique, « The Scum Of Us All », « Facing Earth », avec une utilisation de samples modeste mais presque flippante). Il faut saluer à cet égard l’interprétation du vocaliste Jonatan Nordenstam, dont les growls poussent parfois vers le déchirement (« Y.M.B. »). La brutalité chez LAETHORA n’est pas vaine mais mise au service d’une fin supérieure. Dépêchez-vous, fermez-vos portes ! A moins qu’il ne soit déjà trop tard et que le parasite soit déjà chez vous…
