Voilà exactement le genre de cd difficile à chroniquer, tout simplement parce que je n’ai pas grand-chose à en dire… My Own Private Armageddon de SLOWMOTION APOCALYPSE… je ne connaissais pas le groupe et je dois avouer que le nom et le titre de l’album m’ont inspirés. En plus la pochette n’est pas dégueu du tout, je suis donc tout content de me découvrir un nouveau petit combo (peut être) sympa… hé bah je ne suis pas le seul à avoir été mal inspiré !!!
SLOWMOTION APOCALYPSE fait un Thrash Mélodique digne des plus grands groupes du genre, à savoir IN FLAMMES, THE HAUNTED ou encore DARK TRANQUILITY pour ne citer qu’eux. Mais c’est bien là leur problème, ils n’arrivent pas à se différencier de leurs influences du coup My Own Private Armageddon ne ressemble qu’au énième album de l’énième groupe du style. Alors on a tout, section rythmique carrée, syncopée, leads mélodiques, refrains se voulant accrocheurs mais rien de plus. Que dalle. Nada. Peau d’zob. Absolument rien ne différencie SLOWMOTION APOCALYPSE de ses concurrents. Mention « dommage » à l’aboyeur Alberto Zannier qui à lui seul fait passer les titres de « sympa » à « difficile à écouter » tant il rend les paroles incompréhensibles. On entend GUUAAAAA, GUAAAA, GUA GOOOOO à longueur de temps ce qui devient plus que lassant au bout de la deuxième écoute… allez, couché Medor !
Oui, bon, le son est excellent, c’est très bien fait, mais pour moi ce n’est plus un critère de qualité à l’époque de l’utilisation systématique de Pro Tools. A moins que vous ne soyez un aficionado du genre, circulez y’a rien à voir ! Dommage, la pochette est pas mal…
