Troisième CD pour les Auvergnats de AWACKS. Je n’aurai, pour ma part, pas de comparaison avec la discographie antérieure du combo car je découvre. A l’écoute de The Third Way ce qui surprend l’auditeur c’est la cohésion de l’ensemble. C’est joué d’une manière très professionnelle, pas de place pour l’improvisation. Il faut dire que le style proposé par la formation Clermontoise ne tolère pas la médiocrité. Pour prétendre à une certaine exposition médiatique, il faut que la Hard progressif proposé, car il s’agit de Hard Progressif, soit de haute volée car tout ou presque a déjà été fait dans ce style. Et AWACKS de relever le challenge et avec brio. De plus le groupe pourra séduire un panel relativement étendu.
Les fans de Metal dans un premier temps. Les grattes sont souvent Heavy, les tempos parfois speed, le chant remarquable dans son ensemble, évoque celui prodigué par Didier Delsaux de MANIGANCE.
Les amateurs de Rock progressif pointeront ensuite le bout de leurs moustaches. Amateurs de structures alambiquées, de parties instrumentales raffinées, bonsoir !
Ceux enfin, qui recherchent une certaine quiétude, un apaisement, une sérénité trouveront peut-être leurs comptes lors de certains passages joués aux claviers comme sur par exemple « Waterfall » ou le piano se taille la part du lion. Plus que tel ou tel partie, c’est l’ensemble du CD qui dénote un état d’esprit, une attitude humaniste. A mon avis et je le partage, AWACKS est un groupe concerné par l’état de la planète en général et ce positivisme transpire à chaque note jouée.
Pour ne rien gâcher, la pochette et le livret sont absolument superbes et rendons à César ce qui est à César, c’est le bassiste Stan qui en est l’auteur.
Bref un album absolument splendide, disposant d’un son tout à fait correct ce qui n’est pas toujours le cas de nombreuses formations hexagonales.
