Akira Kajiyama (guitare) et Joe Lynn Turner (chant) se connaissent bien puisqu’ils ont participé à plusieurs projets communs dans lesquels le Japonais n’apparaissait que comme musicien de studio. Ici, son ambition est plus grande puisqu’il est l’initiateur de ce disque.
Le guitariste n’est pas maladroit, il a parfaitement intégré les leçons de ses illustres prédécesseurs et nous livre un Hard Rock old school qui n’a probablement pas beaucoup dépaysé Joe Lynn Turner. En effet, le chant de ce dernier colle parfaitement au style qui s’apparente aux créations solos de Turner ou de HTP.
Le problème de cet album est son manque cruel d’originalité. Kajiyama fait du bon boulot mais rien de plus. Il nous offre un album comme on en a déjà entendu des dizaines dans le même genre. A aucun moment il ne peut être crédité d’une quelconque création personnelle. Par ailleurs, Joe Lynn Turner lui même semble être en vitesse de croisière : la qualité de son chant ne souffre aucune critique mais on ne peut pas dire que notre homme se dépasse ! On serait tenter de croire qu’il garde ses idées créatrices pour lui et qu’il ne donne ici que le minimum. La musique assez convenue n’est donc pas relevée par le chant, ce qui aboutit à un résultat franchement plat.
Finalement, le titre de cet album est assez évocateur : on y trouve la chaleur d’un Rock bien fait mais il y manque la lueur de génie, la flamme de folie.
