Pour fêter ses 10 ans de carrière, Lana Lane faite preuve d’ambition : elle nous livre un concept album sur le thème de Macbeth de Shakespeare. Il s’agit davantage d’un fil conducteur que d’un thème récurrent car l’album est très varié et les atmosphères changent rapidement. En outre, aucun morceau ne tire en longueur. Lana a également souhaité élargir au maximum son univers musical en utilisant des instruments classiques : orgue, flûte (bon, en fait c’est du synthé), mandoline. Mais le véritable atout de cet album reste le chant cristallin sur lequel repose une partie des morceaux et qui donne une personnalité à l’ensemble. Car il semble évident que Lana avait ce projet à cœur et qu’elle s’y est investi pleinement.
Toutefois, l’engouement pour cet album peut se heurter à deux obstacles : il faut adhérer aux différentes atmosphères particulières auxquelles l’auditeur est confronté. Et il faut aussi apprécier d’être plongé pendant près d’une heure dans un Rock mélodique très paisible et lent. Car l’album recèle tout de même 7 ballades (ou assimilées) !
En outre, j’ai le sentiment d’une petite baisse de régime sur la seconde moitié de l’album. Car après les superbes “The Dream That Never Ends”, “Someone To Believe” et “Summon The Devil”, nous n’avons plus grand chose à nous mettre sous la dent.
