Nicolo Kotzev a depuis longtemps démontré son amour pour le Hard Rock old school et les grands classiques du genre. Ses compositions semblent avoir été écrites pour Glenn Hughes et Joe Lynn Turner avec lesquels il a déjà travaillé plusieurs fois. C’est ce dernier que l’on retrouve ici au chant. Et si le reste du line-up n’est pas aussi prestigieux que sur l’opéra-rock Nostradamus, les musiciens n’ont aucun complexe à avoir car ils emmènent ce live avec fougue.
Tout commence avec un son très médiocre, pour ne pas dire mauvais, qui s’améliore progressivement. Nous sommes loin des albums live épurés que l’on peut parfois entendre. Ici, pas de retouche ostensible, pas de coupure, c’est du live comme si vous y étiez. Il faut reconnaître que le style s’y prête assez et l’on comprend ce choix du Bulgare qui a voulu capturer le Hard Rock tel qu’il sort des amplis.
Comme d’habitude Joe Lynn Turner est remarquable ; il donne une authenticité à cet enregistrement intemporel. Nikolo Kotzev est aux anges, il se déchaîne devant son public (l’album a été enregistré à Sofia le 31 juillet 2003).
Les fans de DEEP PURPLE, de HTP, les amateurs du récent live de Glenn Hughes, seront comblés par des titres comme “Guilty As Sin” (qui démarre à la façon de “Mistreated”), tout simplement jouissif, mais aussi “Road To Hell” ou “Slip Away”.
Le tout s’achève par une ballade acoustique un peu trop mièvre après la chaleur du vieux rock.
Précisons qu’un DVD du concert sort simultanément.
