MUTILATION (pl) - Possessed By Reality (2004)

Quatrième et court album pour les polonais de Mutilation. "Possessed By Reality" sorti chez Empire Records il y a plus d'un an mais le temps qu'il passe les frontières de la Pologne cela crée un léger décalage car en effet ils viennent de sortir leur sixième album "Conflict Inside" chez ce même label...
Bref, revenons à ce "Possessed By Reality" qui, disons le tout de suite, ne mutile pas grand chose. On peut dire que Mutilation pratique un Death Metal Old School avec des riffs assez simples mais globalement efficace. La production n'est pas au top, du coup les guitares ne sont pas assez massives et l'ensemble sonne assez brut. De plus, comme je le disais plus haut, l'album est relativement court car il ne comporte que 8 titres pour 27 minutes (hormis la reprise de Bolt Thrower "Cenopath"). Le groupe revendique comme influences Bolt Thrower et Benection mais à part le style pratiqué et l'artwork de ce dernier ainsi que sa reprise, je ne vois pas trop où Mutilation les a cachées...
Vous l'aurez compris, et ce malgré une expérience de plus de 12 ans avec 5 albums au compteur ainsi que les efforts déployés (très louables), je n'ai pas spécialement accroché à la déferlante de Mutilation... Faites vous votre propre opinion en allant écouter des extraits sur leur site (au passage leur sixième album à l'air d'être bien meilleur...).
