Après plus de 2 ans d’absence et quelques problèmes de santé, revoilà PINK CREAM 69, et en pleine forme !
Le groupe applique la méthode qu’il connaît bien : celle qui consiste à faire de belles chansons. On retrouve donc ce délicieux cocktail de mélodies, de refrains accrocheurs et de solos agréables. Le tout servi par la production de Dennis Ward, qui ne souffre aucune critique.
Inutile donc de chercher une voix nouvelle dans laquelle le groupe aurait souhaité s’aventurer, c’est du PINK CREAM 69 tout craché… et c’est tant mieux !
En dépit des deux ballades inévitables sur ce type d’album, on y trouve beaucoup d’énergie. Des titres tels que « Gods Come Together » ou « Another Wrong Makes Right » dynamisent l’ensemble, tandis que l’album laisse la part belle aux morceaux mid-tempo. Comme toujours les refrains sont très accrocheurs et accompagnés de chœurs imparables, comme sur « Retro Lullaby », le tube en puissance. Parlons aussi de « Shelter » qui bénéficie d’une attention toute particulière de la part de la production, ou encore de « My Sharona » à la construction intéressante.
Thunderdome est un bon album de Hard mélodique, complet et surtout très varié ce qui évite toute lassitude. L’ordre des morceaux sur l’album ayant été judicieusement pensé.
