DEIVOS est un groupe de Death polonais formé en 1997 et qui a attendu près de 10 ans pour sortir son premier opus (donc en 2006 chez Empire Records) qui fait l’objet d’une réédition en ce début 2008 par le biais de Metal Mind Productions. Le doux nom de cette première galette est Emanation From Below. Il n’y a rien de particulier dans la biographie du groupe si ce n’est qu’il faut signaler le peu de changement de line-up et que trois des quatre mecs de DEIVOS sont passé plus ou moins récemment dans le groupe de Brutal Death Polonais ENGRAVED.
Pendant qu’une demi douzaine d’années s’est écoulée entre leur formation et la sortie de cette galette, d’autre de leurs compatriotes en ont profité pour faire parler d’eux… je pense à BEHEMOTH ou à un degré moindre VADER… car ce Emanation From Below est proche musicalement des premiers opus des deux leaders de la scène Death Metal polonaise. En effet la musique de DEIVOS a quelques années de retard sur ces leaders, elle ne bénéficie pas non plus des mêmes conditions d’enregistrement ou de productions.
Les compos ne sont pas pour autant en retard avec leur temps ou en manque d’inspiration, elles sont justes classiques et bien exécutées. Toujours joués à un tempo élevé, les 7 titres sont compacts comme un bloque de béton armé et en plus le Death Metal des polonais n’est pas dénué de technique, au contraire, sans pour autant tomber dans la surenchère à la NECROPHAGIA. La force de ce premier disque est que les compositions ne tombent pas dans la linéarité et l’ensemble sonne assez varié.
Emanation From Below est un album de Death Metal classique, ne cherchant pas l’originalité mais plutôt l’efficacité et à rester dans les règles établies par les monstres du genre comme IMMOLATION ou CANNIBAL CORPSE. Mais pour un premier album au bout de 10 ans d’effort, celui ci est un peu court avec à peine plus de 30 minutes au compteur et heureusement que « Realm Of Profanation » dure 7 minutes 30…
