Définition : « Le terme « fornication » désigne un rapport sexuel entre deux individus non mariés entre eux, pratique condamnée par certaines religions comme péché de la chair. Il a une forte connotation morale voire moralisatrice. Son usage est cependant péjoratif et vieilli. On l'étend de plus en plus aux rapports sexuels en général ». Et bien FORNICATION est le doux nom qu’a choisi ce groupe de Black Metal Français originaire de la région de Toulouse.
Après un album très sombre : Sectanik Neocide sorti en 2002, très noir et surtout très vulgaire, D N hAte est le second opus du groupe, sachant que Abyssal Regression enregistré 2 ans plus tôt n’avait jamais vu le jour. La carrière de FORNICATION a pris un tout autre élan en décembre 2005 avec l’intégration au poste de batteur de l’expérimenté et talentueux Alsvid qui officie également dans SETH et ENTHRONED.
Doté de huit titres, cet album est assez court mais surtout intense. Les 35 minutes sont gonflées d’agressivité avec par moments des petites touches Death ou Thrash très discrètes. FORNICATION jouit d’un son de bonne qualité malgré un mixage un peu approximatif à mon goût : la batterie et la basse sont trop en retrait et le chant beaucoup trop en avant (à la ISEGRIM).
Le temps aidant, D N hAte a bénéficié d’une approche plus mature de la part des membres du groupe. Malgré cela, les influences sont évidentes et l’ombre de DARK FUNERAL a du mal à disparaître et ce n’est pas le titre « Bloody Ecstasy » qui viendra me contredire… les interludes sont inutiles et viennent casser la marche en avant de l’album : cela coupe la véritable intensité que le groupe avait réussi à créer grâce à des riffs de guitares poignants et une rythmique assassine.
La cohésion de l’album est entachée par un visuel moderne, blanc et sanguinaire : avec ce nom de groupe et d’album, avec cette approche photogénique particulière, je m’attendais à écouter un groupe de Brutal Death ou de Grind ! Et bien nom, c’est du Black Metal bien fait, parfois assez mélodique (« The Unspeackable ») mais exécuté avec un niveau technique élevé.
