Discipline Manifesto est la nouvelle livraison du groupe de Black Metal grecque formé en 1994 : NAER MATARON. Fier de ses 4 albums précédents, et grâce à des performances scéniques remarquées lors de tournées ou festivals avec des combos de renommée tels que MORBID ANGEL, ARCTURUS et DISSECTION, le groupe a su se forger une belle réputation et a réussit à créer sa propre identité et son propre style. Les influences du Grand Nord pour ce groupe du Sud restent malgré tout évidentes mais augmentent la grandeur de ce cinquième album. C’est donc avec un titre austère que NAER MATARON annonce les couleurs blêmes de sa nouvelle œuvre.
Pour Discipline Manifesto, NAER MATARON est parti en Norvège pour enregistrer et mixer l’album dans les Strype Studio qui ont déjà accueilli BORGKNAGAR, 1349 et ARCTURUS.
Dès les premières écoutes, les riffs froids et tranchants des guitares, la voix presque robotique, les structures des morceaux font penser à un mélange entre DARK FUNERAL (pour le son) et SATYRICON.
Les morceaux sont cinglants, tourmentés. Ils approchent souvent les 8 minutes et rendent ainsi hommage à la scène norvégienne des années 90. Les ambiances malsaines sont créées par des mélodies mélancoliques, profondes, renforcées par des riffs à la fois lancinants et furieux. Les titres contiennent de nombreux breaks qui se succèdent pour laisser place à des moments de pur Black Metal minimaliste et accrocheur.
Discipline Manifesto est un album varié. On y trouve un solo très Thrash sur « Blessing Of Sin », des passages épiques sur « Land Of Dreams », du Black Metal d’une violence extrême sur « Blast Furnance ». Mélodieusement et rythmiquement le groupe est irréprochable, et la production sans faille permet au groupe de postuler pour une place en première division et perdre son statut d’outsider.
Grâce à une vitesse et une virtuosité d’exécution, une voix implorante et possédée, une session rythmique précise et sans faille, une musique martiale et pénétrée, NAER MATARON devient une horde de valeur sûre avec laquelle il faudra désormais compter.
