Les raisons qui ont poussé KISS a sortir un album teinté de disco demeurent mystérieuses. Ce qui est sur, en revanche, c’est que les fans ne l’ont pas digéré ! Alors que le groupe est au sommet de sa gloire (à peine émaillée par la sortie des albums solos dispensables), voilà que débarque cet album fadasse et profondément différents des autres.
Contrairement aux idées reçues, le hit “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” ne connaîtra pas un énorme succès aux Etats-Unis. C’est en Europe que le groupe se fera davantage connaître grâce à lui. Mais, là aussi, l’ambiguïté est de taille car les curieux, attirés par ce single, seront bien vite surpris par le contenu du reste de la discographie de KISS ! Finalement le groupe perd ses fans sans en gagner de nouveaux.
En cherchant bien, on peut récupérer “Charisma” de Simmons et “Sure Know Something” de Stanley, mais on est loin de “God Of Thunder” et “Shout It Out Loud”. Ace Frehley, lui, s’empêtre dans une reprise des ROLLING STONE, “2.000 Man”.
