PANIK (ex-NEVADA TAN), KILLERPILZE, (je ne vous ferais pas l’injure de citer TOKIO HOTEL - trop tard ! -), voilà indéniablement le pire des moyens de se familiariser avec la langue de Goethe. Tout le contraire de GRANTIG qui pourrait sans difficultés être pris en référence dans « l’Allemand pour les nuls ». Car ici, on ne cause pas de chagrin d’amour ni de dilemme entre défénestration et section des avant-bras avec un ton pédant mais bel et bien de sujets avec un niveau intellectuel un tantinet plus élevé (douleur, torture de l’esprit et martèlement cérébral). Alors, vous qui vous pavanez fièrement en affirmant avec un naturel faussé que « Spring Nicht » signifie « Ne Sautes Pas », ferez-vous encore les malins devant « Warum Geth Es Mir So Dreckig » ou « Wie Fühlt Sich Das An » ? On atteint un autre niveau linguistique et musical, accessoirement. Pourtant, Jonathan (chant et guitare) et ses potes ont à peine plus de jus dans le slibard que Bill & co. Au fond, tout se situe dans l’initiation à la musique et nul doute que GRANTIG ne boxe pas dans la même catégorie. Aujourd’hui, ils reviennent pour soigner tous les maux occasionnés par So Muss Es Sein avec leur propre Medizin.
Intro Heavy, couplet Thrash/Metalcore, refrain Sludge, la piste éponyme et initiale est ce qu’on appelle dans le jargon, une « putain de chanson ». Pas de compromis, pas de larmes, il faut soigner la douleur par la douleur. Et de souffrance, les propositions des teutons en débordent. « Du Bist Nicht Allein » ou « Nur Für Dich » traitent de sujets sérieux qui remettent en cause les relations humaines (oui, ça aide de vivre à cinq kilomètres du Rhin). Ce qui fait la grande force du quartet est également sa capacité à disserter sur des sujets pas toujours drôles avec un groove ingénieux qui rendra votre teint blafard, à condition de bien comprendre le rapport lyrics/rythmes. Le corps des compositions est toujours marqué par un tempo soutenu et agrémenté d’une cadence dansante grâce à la batterie maitrisée par Jan Vogelbacher qui ne cache pas ses influences « calibanesques ». Quelques redondances évoqueront partiellement TRIVIUM, PANTERA, CULT OF LUNA, NEUROSIS mais sans suite puisqu’un nombre incalculable de variations sauveront Medizin d’une ressemblance frappante avec un de ses congénères. Il y’a un océan entre la brutalité de « Guten Appetit », le fun de « Wie Fühlt Sich Das An » et l’adieu Pop acoustique « Auf Wiedersehen ». Sa richesse et sa robe d’une brillance aveuglante font de cette thérapie par la générosité un soin homéopathique au syndrome de la vie morne. Inutile de préciser que le chant granuleux et labellisé « 100% origine du terroir » (compréhensible, qui plus est !) est un atout tellement immense qu’il serait bien con de ne pas y voir une raison d’essayer ce médicament générique.
Evidement, qu’on est tentés de dire que la formation ne fait que surfer sur la vague du Rock/Metal germanique qui a un certain succès dans les cours de récréations. En ces lieux, la seule chose qui pourrait nuire à GRANTIG, c’est son âme. Incontestablement, la leur est forte et ne souffre pas d’un manque d’honnêteté. Et quand aujourd’hui, on n’est pas faux-cul, c’est dur de se faire remarquer.
