En voyant cette nouvelle galette étiquetée « Hardcore », je me suis tout de suite dit que j’allais encore avoir à faire à une énième formation de Hardcore actuelle, avec sa grosse production, ses mosh parts redondantes et son chant bourrin monocorde. Que nenni, les jeunes de FIRST FAILURE sont partisans du retour aux racines le plus radicale. Avec une batterie implacablement binaire et des riffs simples et mélodiques. Le chanteur, plein de fougue et de vivacité envoie la sauce par dessus sans jamais faiblir. On l’imagine déjà sauter dans tous les sens sur scène, bousculant les autres musiciens, plongeant dans le public…
Les compos dépassent rarement les 3 minutes. L’âme du vrai Punk Rock résonne dans notre esprit rebelle d’antan, couplé à l’incroyable énergie du Hardcore. Imaginez le mariage de RANCID et MINOR THREAT, et vous obtiendrez ce à quoi peut ressembler FIRST FAILURE. Ne criez pas au scandale, ce ne sont que des comparaisons, il faudra encore un peu de temps à ces Toulousains pour atteindre le niveau des deux groupes cités. Mais je pense qu’ils ont déjà le potentiel pour enflammer la foule en concert sans difficulté.
Avec une production sans fioritures, The Option se déguste cru, sans sauce et sans accompagnement, tel un Hardcore Old School pur et simple. N’allez pas chercher de la virtuosité ici, ce n’est pas le but. Juste un condensé d’énergie brute, très court (26 minutes) et efficace. Enjoy.
