Impellitteri revient bousculer nos oreilles avec un album bigarré et résolument puissant. Le guitare-héros n’a pas abandonné son Heavy Metal traditionnel mais il s’oriente tout de même dans une voie plus directe avec des passages Thrash puissants qui justifient amplement le titre de l’album. Il est assez difficile de coller une étiquette sur le genre de cet album tant chaque titre explore un style différent. Le tout donne l’impression d’un patchwork musical plaisant car la qualité est au rendez-vous.
On y trouve beaucoup de titres Speed : “Judgement Day”, “The Writting On The Wall”, “Dance With The Devil”, “Destruction”. C’est un style qu’Impellitteri maîtrise depuis longtemps mais on note de petits rajouts comme le break Thrash sur “Crushing Daze”. Avec “Hurricane” et “Iceman Coming” le Heavy flirte amplement avec un Thrash sympathique. “Propaganda Mind” est un Hard Rock assez classique mais bien construit, avec des touches de synthé.
Sur “Punk”, le guitariste part en vrille avec un rap Metal fortement apparenté à “I am The Man” d’ANTHRAX. Et même lorsqu’il se frotte au Hard FM, Impellitteri ne manque pas de talent car “Stay Tonight” pourrait rivaliser avec quelques bons titres sortis chez Frontiers Records (le solo n’est pas sans rappeler Kee Marcello). Et, bien sûr, vous retrouverez les sifflements d’harmoniques qui caractérisent son jeu.
Impellitteri évolue tout en restant fidèle à son style et il livre ici un album d’excellente qualité, faute d’être novateur. Pedal To The Metal ravira les fans du guitariste ainsi que les adeptes de Heavy/Speed.
