Groupe nancéen formé en 2005, BLOODY MARY a depuis agité bien des scènes en Europe, et c’est aujourd’hui qu’ils viennent nous prêcher la bonne parole sous la forme d’une premier album autoproduit, sobrement intitulé We Rock, You Suck !.
Alors forts en gueule les petits frenchies, ça c’est un fait, mais ont-ils le potentiel derrière pour assurer comme des bêtes ?
Oui et non.
Certes, le son est très bon, et les musiciens sont excellents dans leur style. Un Hard Rock N’Roll très US, inspiré d’anciennes gloires comme les GUNS N’ROSES, L.A GUNS, KISS, DANGEROUS TOYS ou encore AEROSMITH, voire même SHAKRA…En gros la crème du Big Rock ricain d’il y a 20 ans. Mais ne voyez pas dans ce constat une réflexion amère, car il s’agit bien d’un compliment ! Et loin d’être à la ramasse, BLOODY MARY est largement à la hauteur des cadors du riff Heavy Bluesy, et ça n’est pas le chant en anglais impeccable du guitariste chanteur Pierre Fargetton qui viendra me contredire !
Les morceaux forts sont relativement nombreux, de l’ouverture lourde de « Merry Go Round », un des plus Heavy du lot, avec son refrain digne des charts, à « Restland », une ballade très réussie à la TESLA, la qualité est là, et les qualités harmoniques du combo sont plus que louables. Le riff incroyablement groovy de « Tequila » fera s’entrechoquer bien des éperons, quant à « Love Is Like Addictive » et « Showtime », ils sont bien les hits que leur titre suppose !
Alors me direz-vous, qu’est ce qui cloche ?
Et bien, une chose principalement. Aussi bons soient les morceaux, ils sont tous plus ou moins construits sur le même moule, et le tempo ne varie que très rarement. On a souvent envie que le rythme décolle, et qu’on nous balance à la gueule un « My Michelle » ou un « No, No, No »…Mais non…Alors certes, le niveau global est plus que satisfaisant, mais par pitié messieurs, lâchez vous un peu plus, comme vous le faites si bien lors du pont solo de « Showtime » !
Le Rock gras d’accord, mais du Rock qui pulse, encore !!!
