Les chanteuses influencées par la mode gothique sont à la mode, et le succès d’Evanescence le prouve. Mais la comparaison s’arrête ici car Lullacry est un groupe résolument plus « Metal » même si les refrains sont très mélodiques. Ce troisième album est manifestement celui de la maturité. La production – qui était le point faible des réalisations précédentes – est ici très professionnelle et nous permet d’apprécier les trouvailles de ce combo finlandais.
Le plus surprenant est le nombre de singles en puissance sur cet album : « Pitch Black Emotions », « Alright Tonight », « Better Days » avec son orchestration magistrale, « Heart Of Darkness » et, bien sûr, « Don’t Touch The Flame » sont autant de tubes potentiels (dans un monde où le Metal aurait sa place !).
En trouvant ce compromis entre « commercial » et « Metal », Lullacry prouve qu’il n’y a pas que le FM qui puisse réunir les genres.
